I think the best way to avoid it is to study the Atonement and embrace it through prayer. As we do so we will understand our great debt to the Lord, how truly we need His forgiveness, and that we will be completely lost without the Atonement. Judging others will become distasteful to us.

To judge others when one has been forgiven through the Atonement is to mock the Savior and His sacrifice.Mark & Susanne Kelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06651396813412475770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5279147985522620884.post-89926397648654289862010-02-07T10:37:35.589-08:002010-02-07T10:37:35.589-08:00I think that oftentimes we would not be rebuked if...I think that oftentimes we would not be rebuked if we were simply working on our own salvation. The Lord understands that we are all at different places in our progression, and that different things are needful for different people to move forward to the next step. It is when we start trying to make others do what we want them to, that we open ourselves up for rebuke.

Personally I find that I need to make sure I am open to the needs of others, without becoming a bossy Martha, telling others what they need to do.JuliaKoponickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13367931122298378602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5279147985522620884.post-25699467576753274682010-02-07T10:17:10.480-08:002010-02-07T10:17:10.480-08:00They showed up when I first had the post, but they...They showed up when I first had the post, but they seem to have disappeared since then. I have been inclined to feel guilty about my Martha-ish tendencies for years - pitching in and doing, rather than immersing myself in scripture study, for example - and the insights in your post about the real reason why Martha received her rebuke were eye-opening. Thank you for your thoughts.Kathy Hayniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08128459743012799948noreply@blogger.com
